Adaptation is protecting agricultural land, managing risks and profitability, resilience, and opportunities in a changing climate.

David Drage, a farmer located north-east of Warracknabeal, is part of the Regional Climate Adaptation Group who led the development of the Grampians regional strategy.

David has been farming for over 30 years, running a mixed cropping and sheep enterprise, following the politics of climate change, whilst living it for most of that time.

In the late 2000’s he was on a committee at Grain Growers Association looking at carbon trading, and completed a Nuffield Scholarship in 2009 looking at threats and opportunities arising from carbon pollution reduction schemes.

David is involved in many local community groups, specifically Rotary, VFF, CFA and the local Best Wool Best Lamb group. He continues to be involved with the Nuffield Alumni and has been a Wimmera CMA board member since 2013.

Agriculture is one of eight focus area for adaptation in the region, highlighting how the agricultural sector is contributing to the region’s efforts to adapt.
